The UVA Club of DC’s Service Committee is looking to revamp its planning and events outreach, and we’d love your help if you’re interested and looking for a great way to get involved and give back to the UVA and DMV-area communities!

We will be hosting a Planning Meeting conference call next week on Tuesday, October 10th at 8:00pm. Please email uvaservice@dchoos.org for dial-in details.

As a Service Committee member, you can help plan events that are of interest to you and that support organizations and causes that are important to you and could use more volunteer power. Examples of past events include an annual afternoon volunteering with the Capital Area Food Bank, a gardening day with Brain Food, and a holiday gift drive for Horton’s Kids. Additionally, this Sunday, October 8th, we are hosting an school-beautifying event at Stanton Elementary in Southeast DC as a tie-in with the Bicentennial celebrations – and it’s not too late to register: https://dchoos.org/event/bicentennial-service-event/. Mainly, we would love to hear from you what other service events you’d like to see!

Please let us know if you’ll be able to join for the planning call on Tuesday evening (and if you have any other friends who may be interested), or can’t make it, but would like to be kept in the loop for future meetings. Conversely, feel free to let us know if you’re unable to participate as part of the committee, but would still like to be kept informed of future service opportunities.
