April 16 @ 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Thursday, April 16th
5:00pm – 8:00pm
DC Central Kitchen
Join the UVA Club of Washington, DC and work alongside fellow Hoos and graduates of DC Central Kitchen’s Culinary Job Training program to help prepare nutritious meals by cutting, chopping and/or peeling thousands of pounds of otherwise wasted food. The DC Central Kitchen prepares and delivers more than 5,000 balanced meals to partner homeless shelters, rehabilitation clinics, halfway houses, and afterschool programs each day. No cooking or food service experience is required. All alumni, parents, and friends are invited, however, all volunteers must be 12 years or older.
Please note: if you register and do not show up, DC Central Kitchen cannot serve the community to the best of their ability. Please be sure to contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org if your plans should change at least *8 days prior* (by 4/8) to our shift.
What to Wear
Storage space for volunteer personal belongings is limited, so please plan to travel light. All volunteers must wear appropriate and professional attire suitable for an industrial production kitchen. Please wear closed toed shoes, sleeves and long pants. Shoes with high-grip soles are strongly recommended.
