Cavs Connect, a new type of mentoring program

Introduction:

Welcome to Cavs Connect. The mentoring program connects groups of alumni with similar interests so that they can build mutually beneficial relationships. The program was designed to be flexible. You’ll be able to specify how often you’d like to interact, how you’ll communicate, and connect with alums with similar interests to your own.

Everyone’s invited. The success of the mentoring relationships depends on involvement from alumns of all years, so we invite you to participate whether you walked the lawn last year or 30 years ago.

Thank you for your time, and we look forward to your future involvement with the Cavs Connect program. Finding a group for you is easy. The section on “Getting Started” at the bottom of the page will tell you how.

Key Features:

To achieve flexibility and to encourage the formation of beneficial relationships, the program uses a specific format:

Mentees and mentors are matched in clusters, allowing for greater flexibility than a one-to-one match. Each cluster consists of 2-4 mentees and 2-4 mentors. Group meetings and interaction are the focal point of the program, but mentors and mentees often establish individual relationships beyond their clusters.

Tailored match

You’ll be able to specify what characteristics you’d like your cluster to have – whether they are industry, location, or lifestyle focused.

Longer-term commitment

Participants can specify how often they would like to interact with their group. Note, however, that while frequency of meetings is customizable, all participants are expected to view the mentoring program as a long-term commitment, which usually lasts at least a year.
