College Rivalry Game

The Washington Nationals are hosting their 2nd annual College Rivalry Day on Wednesday, June 29 when they take on the New York Mets.  Join several hundred Washington DC arecavmana UVA alumni, students, parents, and fans at Nationals Park as we cheer on former UVA baseball star Ryan Zimmerman, Racing President Tom, and our NL East division leading Washington Nationals. Last year, we had 1,100 UVA fans in attendance, and we’re hoping for another strong turnout this year.

The Commonwealth Cup rivalry will be featured throughout the game.  Last year, UVA basketball player Justin Anderson and Vcheerirginia Tech football player Darryl Tapp threw out ceremonial first pitches, both schools’ cheerleaders appeared on the field before the game, UVA and VT grads sang the Star Spangled Banner and GOD Bless America, Cavman & Hokie Bird ran in the Presidents Race (which Racing President Tom won!), The Good Old Song and Tech Triumph played over the stadium PA system during inning breaks, and the Gus Burger and turkey leg were served at select concession stands.

This year, the Nationals will be giving away a Nationals & UVA branded acrylic solo cup to all fans who order tickets through the VIRGINIA TICKETS link.
